Question here. Do you fish browns the same way you do in the spring with planer boards?

thanks ahead of time

The water takes a long time to get cold enough for the browns to come up/in. I would say it would be at least late December. By then no one is fishing. I have fished in February and they are in by that time.

I fished for browns in 40 to 50 feet of water in October and November using 6 and 8 color leadcore and planer boards. In October there still are plenty of large ones out in the lake ,but as it gets into November, most of the larger ones go into the creeks to spawn and only the smaller ones (19/20 inches) are left in the lake. The fun thing is that the browns are in the same areas as the small mouth bass and often lakers as well, so there is plenty of action, while the water temps are down to 45/46 degrees.

Yes fish them the same way, look for outflows and stained water. Mid to late October thru november, can feel very empty out there! The big males can be tough but the smaller females bite well, be safe!

Thanks for the advice guys. The reason I asked was there were a few posts that mentioned browns now? So I was just wondering.

Never tried it, but I am guessing by the sheer numbers of browns spawning at the end of October into November, that hitting the water color change at the creek outlets would be hot. If it works on the piers, it should work out in the lake too.
