I agree with Capt. Vince. On Lake Erie, we generally figure 5 ft drop for each color, with the variable being

speed, waves and what you are running on the core. And we are running slower for the walleye than you

might for salmon.

If you make a lot of turns be ready to find a pile of spaghetti with ten colors out. We keep it down to five colors and a snap weight to reach deeper. Big thumper spinner blades do a job on lead core.also so use good swivels. In line planer boards on the inside of your turns are a real problem. It seems straight line steering is really a good deal.
