SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

I made it up to Lake Ontario for the first time this year. I took a muskie fishing friend that had never caught a king or steelhead before and let him reel in most of the good kings. We ran 3 riggers from 70 to 120 feet of cable and 2 braid dipseys at 220 to 260 on a 2 setting. Every rod caught at least a fish. Best temp seemed to be around 100 down and most of our good kings came 80 to 100 down. Saturday we found mature fish right away and worked one spot all day between 130 and 230 fow. Got 7 kings that day with 4 over 20lbs. 26lbs was biggest. Sunday we struggled a bit with matures. Never found a good spot to pound, but found good looking screen in 100 to 120 fow east of the breakwall. We picked away at some smaller kings and steelhead. Best baits were spin doctors 42sec, NBK, white w/green dots and flies 42 sec, green mirage, and cryptonite. Spoons were NK orange crush, Stinger green gator, and DW 42 sec with gold cup.

Can't wait to get back next weekend. I have another friend that I need to get into some nice kings.
