Which tiller 9.9 outboard?

I have a 15 foot aluminum arkansas traverler (deep V) which has benn modified into an open bow fishing boat complete with fishing seats and a wood floor (so it is heavy but very stable). I use it to fish all over: from trolling Lake Ontario for Spring browns to bass fishing on horspower restricted lakes so I have a Johnson 9.9 tiller from the mid-1970's. The Johnson does about 10 mph with two adults in the boat and 14 mph when I am by myself. There is nothing wrong with the Johnson 9.9 except it is an old 2-stroke from the 1970's. Since I rebuilt the transom I plan on keeping the boat for many years, I'm thinking of buying a new 9.9 for it (although I did consider putting in the carb to make the current Johnson a 15 hp). The queston is what 9.9 to go with? Hondas weigh the most and are the most expensive. You have the Nissan/Tahutsu/Evinrude (nothing more than rebranded Tahutsu) are the lightest, but I don't know much about them. Mercury which you can pick up in February or March when BassPro has them on sale. Yamahas are out there. Not many Suzuki dealerships are around. Which ones should I seriously look at? Is there a huge difference in noise and gas consumption when compared to the old 2-strokes? Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have the Mercury 9.9 4 stroke (which is a black Tahutsu) 6 seasons now with about 470 hrs on it. Works just fine and humms all day. You'll probably get your best deals on a Nissan/Tahutsu in that class engine so I'd say go in that direction.

I now have a Mercury pro kicker and I had a Honda, both run fine. i must say the Honda is a bit quieter regardless both will work. The Honda has a oil filter where the Mercury does not. Don't think you can go wrong with either!
