Jimski2.... Good thing the offender was transporting (probably for live sale at the fish market) Grass carp. They are cool. much like common carp and koi and goldfish, but different and harder to catch, being way more wary. They do not fly out of the water, or, like the Bighead and Silver, eat phytoplankton. The way the last two species consume phytoplankton is like clear cutting a forest to get some lumber, or overfishing by some commercial ventures. They can leave little behind for others (mostly young fish and whatnot) to live on. And the flying out of the water thing offers obvious issues for enjoying the waters. Grass carp are also not crazy prolific like Biggies and Silvers.....

There has got to be some chemical that will sterilize these crap not allowing them to spawn. Without allowing them to spawn will likely kill off the fish after a good 10 years. I don't know why they haven't been working on a permanent barrier while the electric fence keeps them at bay (for the time being and while we have electricity supplied to it.)

There was an article about a disease the was killing off carp and carp only a couple years ago. I will try to find it. Why not introduce the disease in the Mississippi and tribs to try to kill some off?
