Does anyone have either forward or side scanning? I have a 2009 Lowrance before the HDLs,(down only)

Looked at Furno models but they start at $ 14,000.00 and have a 3' sonar transducer. I fish a 24' 1999 Thompson 240.

I am sure the charter guys have some equipment to find and follow bait. Considering the time and gas we spend for trolling

seems like it should be productive. $ 10,000.00 is still a little pricey!

Well, not that you guys where much help. Looking at a Seascout for forward and side scanning.

Does anyone have one of these units?

Not familar with Seascout

Lowrance HDS structure scan is mainly for looking at bottom structure and has limited value when trolling. Very difficult to locate individual fish marks, they appear as small dots and not as the typical arches that we normally look for.

Larger bait balls nearer the suface will show up and can be useful when looking for spring browns or steely's. Gives you something else to do on slow days.
