Hey guys,

need a little help here. I bought 2 new CV55 for copper rigs. As per someones suggestion I used my roto tool and widened the level wind to allow the knot to pass by more freely. It seemed to work well but it is definately rough compared to the factory finish. I'm afraid it is going to cause havoc on the leader or backing. What have some of you done to smooth out the finish. Man I'm glad I only did it to one.

Am I able to buy wider guides from Okuma to fit this reel?

See if you can get a fine stone or an abrasive rubber bit to fit in your roto tool, or as suggested use sandpaper.

Depending on how rough it is, sandpaper could take awhile.

A fine jewlers file would work also.

I used a pointed carbide burr when I did mine and they came out good.

Make sure you move the tool in the direction of rotation and not against it to get a better finish.

Don't know if you can get wider ones from Okuma but it might be worth a call to them.

Good luck

Glen
