I recently bought a pair and was wondering how the autostop works on them. I had them out on the lake last weekend (the line does not have the bead on it) and could not get the autostop to work. I tried pushing the button in with a pair of pliers, but it would not stop. Is there some sort of trick here or is the autostop junk on these riggers?

I have use them for years without problems. Sometimes i have to lower the down rigger a second just to get the system to recognize i want to raise them again before the autostop was ever engaged but that is the only funny thing i have experienced and usually only happens when they are almost all the way up anyway. You probably need to make sure you have the bead/float looking device on the cable that flips the switch when retreived and see if it works.

Thanks! I ended up taking one apart and the leads for the autostop switch were corroded. Cleaned them up and bingo! Thanks for your help!!
