9.9 high thrust.

Well, it just started to surge? Any ideas what may be causing this? I have no idea when or if its ever had a carb and fuel pump done. I believe it could be due for both. Any ideas guys?

It's a 9.9 HT yami.

Before you rip into the engine, check out if the prop has spun. Draw a straight line on the prop and the rubber center, run the engine in the lake and after it surges, pull it out to see if the line is still straight. If it is in a different place on one of the parts, your prop has spun. If so, replace it.

The only issue I ever had with the Yamaha's I ran was the fuel strainer, and that was on a 2005 225 Yamaha HPDI. Went through two of them. What it would do is stall the engine under a load.

Is it ran directly to your main tank or off a separate tank? I was going to say check to make sure it is vented. Otherwise it is most likely pulling air in thru the line and loosing prime.
