I have been tying my own fly rigs. I would like to know if the rubber tube that holds the stinger hook in position is a crucial part to the rig set up. The "ATOMIK FLY" rig has it on them. If anyone knows what they are I am wondering how to make my own. Thanks!

I use small beads.

I don't use the larger size to avoid adding weight to the fly.

You might be able to see what I am talking about. I have one of these rigs in my hand now and don't seem to rattle. Just the rubber tube and a solid ball. It seems to hold the stinger hook in position and makes the fly set nicely on the rig. Do they sell these apparatuses separately or if not do I just put another bead there to hold fly from hitting my stinger hook.

That's the rattle. You can take it off and see it doesn't hold the single hook in place. You can buy them off atommiks website if you want them. Or echips.

As posted before, that is just the rattle. Some days the fish want a rattle some days not. I tie my own flies as well. It is not needed most of the time.
