The date was August 22, 2004. Cape Vincent N.Y. I was out by myself for a leisure day of fishing. I was using down riggers to troll. One was set at a depth of 30 feet. The second one was set at a depth of 45 feet. I was trolling a silver and green jointed 4 and half inch Bomber Long A Minnow. I was using twelve pound test Cortland Flea Flicker Trolling Line with no leader.

I was fishing in the area just off Grenadier Island in Lake Ontario. Much to my surprise a very large muskellunge expressed a certain degree of interest in my lure and it's presentation. After a lengthy and exciting battle I was able to land the big Muskellunge. It weighed an amazing 46 pounds and was 60 inches long. This was certainly a trophy fish and I'm having the fish mounted. by a taxidermist in Alexandria Bay. :D

Congrats.. great fish! I troll that area often for walleye and have picked up a couple of musky over the years, but nothing close to that size! I assume that you were searching for walleye? Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

Hey mud bay great catch, that is a great area, glad to see you got a trophy like that, and that must be the ultimate freshwater fishing experience.
