I am removing te live well on my boat... It's older and never worked so it is just eating space that I can use for more practical storage. My question is the inlet to the old livewell i going  leave a hole for me to plug. What is te best way to seal this up so I have no leak worries?

I maybe mistaken but I think you can buy a hose barb style brass plug in plumbing at just about any hardware store. otherwise I would look into some of the smaller drain plug style plugs.

its and aluminum boat. I thought about useing a simple plug but I want to make sure that it will not leak because it will be hidden once the floor has been replaced.

This is commonly done in winter rigs. Get all the hose out, and if the thru hull is threaded plastic, caulk and cap it with appropriate size cap. Then, find inlet on outside of hull and fill with 3M 5200 permanant caulk so it cant store any water and is added protection.
