Google search LOU

I used to use Google to search for posts on LOU but now when trying it I only get the homepage.  Google finds the post but every link brings me back to LOU home page.  

 

Here is an example of what I would do: site:lakeontariounited.com dipsy diver

It will yield results but can not get to the topic.

 

What gives Chad?

Hi Chas -

Good question. After the upgrade, the main URL structure changed so it is going to take Google a little while to RE-INDEX the site and update the URLs. This is a temporary issue that will go away as soon Google bots crawl the site and update the URLs.

 

What is happening is that Google still has the old site URL's indexed (those pages don't exist anymore) so when someone clicks on them, it defaults back to site homepage (better than an ugly 404 page error message).

 

The issue will go away by itself given some time.

ok thanks Chad. I find using google is a little easier to find specific info than the search feature on most forum sites.

Exactly Chas - 20% of people that visit LOU come from typing in "Lake Ontario United" directly into google so I hope the index gets updated as quickly as possible.
