What are the pros and cons between the okuma convector and the daiwa accudepth. I have used the accudepth for a few years now but mostly for walleye. I need to purchase a few new reels and was considering the convectors.

I have a pair of the convector 30D's. I used the for one season for my dipsey rods. I think that for the price they are definitely a great buy. I have also talked to many people who also have said the same thing.

I haven't used the Convectors, but I've used the Accudepth Plus 47 LCs for my braid and mono divers for 5 years now and they have been super reels, excellent drags on them.

I have used both for a few years and personally like the convector better overall. Biggest differences i know of are Convector much better factory drag. Accudepth metal frame rather than plastic

Nitro, are you talking about the original Accudepth, or their replacement  the Accudepth Plus?

The drags on the original Accudepth were junk, which is why they only lasted a coulpe seasons, but the ADP drages are super.

Tim I am talking about the ADPs. Not nearly as good as the convectors IMHO. That's circa 2008-9 model ADPs and unless they changed the stock drag in the past couple years, they are a felt washer system that didn't have a smooth progression. I ended up updating mine to carbon fiber in fact.

I also love the over-sized handles on my Convectors, and the Okumas seem to just crank in better and more comfortably when fighting big fish as well. I like them better than my Daiwa Sealine linecounters.  Much smoother in all applications.

I have had both and no doubt prefer the convectors. Drags are great and the oversize handles create the illusion of a higher gear ratio. Its been a few seasons now since i converted everything from Daiwa to Okuma and i havent looked back.

I switched over to all convectors for the riggers, copper and lead. They work great and Rob hit it right on the nose with the drags and handles. I have four 47Lc's loaded up with wire and they work great for that application as well.
