The ramps are starting to open up , so this weekend when the weather takes a break for the good, get your boat ready. The Port Clinton walleye season will be soon.

Funny you mention that.  I have a business trip scheduled in a few weeks to Toledo and was considering dragging my small boat out.  Is the fishing this time of year typically worth dragging a boat 300 miles?

Thanks,

The early warm waters of the southwest end of the lake attract a lot of walleyes. Eighty per cent of the lakes walleyes spawn there and there is no closed season, just a four fish limit. Purple jigs are good in the shallow ten foot waters, especially near the Nuclear Power plant and its warm water discharge. Check out Port Clinton area fishing sites, there are a lot of charters available if you do not want to pull your boat down. It is cheaper to be shown how to do things rather than learning by yourself.

an alternative is to take a head boat out of fisherman's warf in port clinton...they jig the reefs
