Combing Pad recovering

  I want to recover the combing pad/cushion on the transom, I have done some research and found Naugahyde to be a good material to use. Is there any other material I need to look at, I need waterproof, very rip resistant, and something that will last a while. The original lasted over 12 years, so I am hoping to find something along that lines. Thanks for your time.
