Making first trip out to Olcott this coming August and reading posts/reportrs on set-up.

I see many guys using cut bait?  Is this frozen bait? Fished w a fly?

Any info appreciated.

Thanks

I've been using cut bait behind an 11" Hot Spot flasher for years now & that's always been my first rod down & deepest. I usually run it behind an 11" Bullfrog & I use a Hot Spot Rollerbaiter to hold the cut bait. The thing about the Rollerbaiter is it has a rudder attached that gives it the right roll. Unfortunately you can't get the Rhys Davis cut bait anymore & that was a great piece of meat. For the Rollerbaiter you should use the #3 size for cut bait.

You can buy Familiar Bite cut too Rhys specs..... and yes they still catch lots of fish.

the cut bait they're referring to is packaged & brined, some will brine again to toughen & add color - blue, green, red...

Erie Dearie is another brand but hard to find around here.
