From Leader to main (terminal) swivel, I use a clinch knot, and have always improved it.  Someone last weekend mentioned that on heaver (20-30 lb) lines, you should NOT improve it, just a straight clinch knot is best.  What do you say ?

The regular clinch knot is fine as long as you keep cinching it up as tightly as possible when tied and pull like h on it to test it out and cinch again....never had one let loose...

I tie Improved Clinch Knot on all my 80 lb Fluorocarbon Muskie Leaders and have never had any pull apart in 20 years.I do use Polymar Knot on all powerbraids and 19 Strand Torpedo Wire.
