More bluegilss on a popper

The bluegill bite is really on. Beautiful fish and all caught on fly rod with poppers. Fish are along the deep edge of the weed beds and are very aggressive. We caught 50 in two hours this morning. Lots of fun and great to eat.

After fishing walleyes, browns and salmon it's nice to fish a small lake and not see another boat. We had a loon swim under the boat and saw an Osprey and a mature bald eagle this morning. Very relaxing morning.

After having had several very successful outings I talked my wife into going with me after church this afternoon. We never caught a keeper! They seemed to disappear over night!

Blue gill fishing is fun.  As a kid that is pretty much all I wanted to do.  Now I plan on making a few trips to a couple spots to get a dinner or two, but back then I thoroughly enjoyed catching and releasing.  It is what I look for when I take my kids fishing. 

 

If the popper isn't working, throw the beatle spin.

I went back by myself today and caught some on the popper but ended up with 40 mostly on 2" Berkley minnow below a bobber. my wife must have bad luck.
