Hey everybody, new to the site and to the area.  was curious if anyone had any idea where to find smallies in the lake near sandy creek launch.  tried the "shoals" east of there and couldnt find any major structure. just goby's!

That use to be great smallie fishing as well as the pipe coming from the water tower, golbies ended that. You can get a few out of the rock piles though.

Walk up the creek. There's a lot of holes up there that hold them. Float minnows/worms/crayfish and you should do alright. Keep in mind the same holes you pull smallies out of also hold trout in the fall/ winter :)

Try fishing the bridges on rt 19 also.

I haven't fished for smallmouth in a long time, and when I did do a lot of it, it was from the Wayne County shores.

Another place out of Sandy you might want to try is off of Devil's Nose.  It's the point that is just west of the Hamlin State Park Beaches, you can't miss it.  There is some pretty good structure there, but just be careful if you're in really tight, there are some boat eating rocks.

Good Luck!

Gobys!!! welcome to smallmouth fishing in the Big O! You would have more fun jiggin' for Lakers in about 75-90FOW.

White Bucktails, big twisters.
