I noticed a number of different species dead and floating out in the lake when I was fishing on Saturday but this stuff has been going on in Cayuga and Seneca as well lately....

I was up on Seneca last week and saw probably a dozen dead fish near my boat dock scattered about, a couple pike, a bunch of smallmouth, a lake trout and some rock bass.  Seems to be biophysical (oxygen or temp)  vs pollution/infection.

I wonder if the Zebra Mussels have anything to do with it ? I don't remember die offs of multi species being of anywhere near this magnitude in the past before the introduction....or depletion of localized oxygen because of them....just thinking out loud....

All weekend long on Saturday I could count maybe 50 bullhead and perch and rockies out the Yazoo. Never seen so many dead fish..

It was the same for me on Sunday morning. We launched out of the North end and worked the west side. German Brothers, Meneth Point, etc. etc.

Never turned a rod and noticed plenty of dead fish.

Major bummer!

It also makes you wonder if the dead fish situation is also related to fish not perhaps actively feeding if its a general (and extensive) condition relating to the water.
