I just bought this week-end a 1995 19ft Bayliner with an I/O 3.0 liter mercruiser engine without a kicker for back up emergency/trolling.

Can i use this for trolling as is or it will be too fast? Did i have to add drift socks of it's better to add a kicker?

Thanks

Purchasing a couple drift socks is a lot less expensive than a kicker, I would think the 3.0 might be a little fast when you take it down all the way.  I had a 3.0 for 8 years, trolled fine.  The kicker idea should be considered for both trolling and piece of mind as a backup.

Check your rpm's at minimum throttle and speed. A good mechanic may be able to tune your idle so it will stay in gear in that 500-700 rpm range, and get you slowed down some
