I am spooling 2 convector 30 with1000 ft. of wire. I want back fill W/ 40-10 power pro. What is the best knot for braided line to wire? Any feed back is appreciated. Thanks Mike

Palomar worked for me. Loop the wire, and wrap the braid around it. Make sure you cinch it really good or it will slip.

Or you could also use an albright knot haven't used it for wire but use it with all my coppers and leadcores no problem..

can u back wire with mono or is braid the standard? also, cant you just spool the entire reel with wire and no backing?

If you were gonna do backing with wire I would highly recommend power pro its a lot tougher stuff and will last longer than the mono.... Most people including myself just run a reel with all 1000 ft on it .. In my opinion all 1000 ft on the reel is the way to go.... Blood Run , Mason, AMF 7 strand wire are some of the better wire manufactures names

Backing on a wire reel does two things. It makes your counter more accurate, and it delivers the full gear ratio of the reel.

It is not needed.

Thanks for the replies I used the Albright knot. I like my reels full. I Used 100 yds. of 50-12 power pro. 1000 ft. wire came out just right. Thanks Mike
