New to dipsy divers

I haven't fished ontario in 20 years and haven't used dipsy divers. I thought I knew how to set them up until I started reading about fleas. What line should I run to the diver? Then what do I need for a leader? Finally got a boat and trying to get back into it. Any help much appreciated!!

Run wire line on your dipsys. No stretch makes the hookset so much easier, also you can feel everything the fish does. This time of year when the fleas are bad expect to be cleaning the wire every 30-45 minutes.

30# stranded wire, 1000' on the reel ,  need a twillie tip on the rod ,  from the dipsie to the lure I use 50# flo carbon (cause thats whats on the boat ) to the flasher.   20# if I am running a spoon.   With a snubber.  Do  a search there are lots of posts on this

I run 30 pound mono between a snubber and the flasher. Never had a break off that I can recall. I use the same with spoons or J-plugs. For trout I run 20 pound flouro unless I think kings may be prowling the same area.

u can use braid or wire but the fleas are bad so I suggest u use wire and a 25-30 pound lead and run long leads
