When running dipsy on lead core do u tie lead core direct to dipsy or do u run a leader from core to dipsy? Newby question , never ran lead gonna start this week.

You don't generally run a dippy off lead core. This time of year just put out your dipsy. Save lead core for spring.

Good luck I want to see that 5 colors lead then tie on a dippy. How do you net the fish out 5 colors?

You could use dive bombs, or snap weights, etc, on your lead, off the boards, but a dipsey is way less to fool with, and magnum dipseys will pull you down pretty darn deep, IMHO.

We were taking steelhead this weekend with spoons on 5 colors of leadcore.  Of course, we were running everything else as well, hunting for kings.

A little confused Jbasile...... most of us don't run a dipsy on leadcore. Dipsy is put on mono or stainless trolling wire and a lead core is run off boards or down the chute. A full 10 color will give you 50' +/- . A mag dipsy will get everything you want down to 100' plus, usually figure a 2:1 ratio. A reg. dipsy will run a 3:1 ratio. Then there's copper ..... another beast of it's own but I never leave home without it

I would be concerned with the stresses the dipsy would exact on the lead core over time. Go to bloodruntackle.com and you can pull accurate depths achieved by the various delivery methods ie. copper,wire line,lead core. Most fishing this time of year is at depths 60' or deeper. Even a full-core of lead is only going to get you down 40' trolling into current. With a mag sized dipsy on wire line or braid, you can get down to 115' levels.
