I know of one Charter Operator that uses braid and 30# flourocarbon leaders. He claims there is no dropoff in catch rates. He also did not lose one lure or fish to breakoffs. The same system he uses on Lake Erie for walleye and he wins a lot of contests there also. It is claimed that flourocarbon is invisible in water so size doesn't matter.

i use nothing but braid to floro and never have problems, if your drag is set and you know how to fight a fish there should be no problem. I use Seaguar 30# in the summer and i used berkley vanish 20 # too, with no problem but i am going to stick with seaguar. When i fish the niagara i use 8# seaguar for my leader and i have had no fish break it, and i also use it for fishing the streams.
