I am looking for some advice and preference regarding rod holders. I need to purchase a few rod holders for trolling/ dipsey rods. No down riggers. Are gimbal mounts and/or tite locs good enough or do I need Bert's holders? Thanks for the feedback in advance.

If you already have the recessed gimbals angled to the back here are some serious rod holders I've been using some of them for about 15 or20 years and never a problem with my Seth Green rigs , dipseys, wire ....you name it....The recessed part has to be angled toward the back for them to set up right on your boat though. Another nice thing is you can pop them in and out for use on another boat etc. and they never come out on their own (in my boat at least.). These are actually $25 cheaper than mine which I bought years ago on the Cape.  http://www.wholesalemarine.com/stainless-steel-outrigger-rod-holder.html?utm_medium=cse&utm_source=nextag

They are fixed position but on my boat at least they are exactly the right angle and height
