College student at Oswego needs rod info...

My son and my money are attending Oswego University. He's asking me for one of the many rods I have for freshwater fishing. Most of them are bass/trout rods & reels. Is there any particular size/weight rod reel combos that are good for the Oswego area? By the way Oswego would be considered what area on Lake Ontario (ie) south shore etc.  Thanks   Joe

That class of rods is perfect for Oswego. If he wants to fish for lake-run trout or salmon in the Oswego River, he'll need a 9ft-10.5ft lightweight to medium-lightweight rod, a noodle rod. or a fly fishing outfit or a centerpin

South Shore - Eastern Basin.  If spinning, I'd go 7 1/2-8ft medium.
