Oak 8/17 and 8/18

Saturday morning my GF and I set up in 120 FOW just east of port with 2 riggers and 2 wires. Within 5 minutes we were doubled up on the wires. We would land one 23lber (turned out to be the biggest fish of the weekend for us) and lost the other. Worked that spot for a bit a took a couple of smaller kings before the screen and the bite dried up. At that point we trolled north to about the 27 line before finding a better looking screen and getting another bite. We would work that area the rest of the morning and take 4 more kings and a couple of steelies, but nothing bigger than mid teens. Mostly a FF bite on the wires for us out 240-275.

Sunday we set up inside again early but found little in the way of bait, fish or bites so we headed back to the area we worked the day before in about 425 FOW. Had a great screen all morning out there but just couldn't really get them to go. Landed one mid teens king and a 6-7lb steelie, that hit a J-Plug on a 300 copper, and lost a screamer on the wire when the treble hook on the fly broke off. Not the best of days but we had a great time and it was a great weekend to be on the lake!!

Nice report, we struggled real bad Sunday. Lookin forward to this Friday evening and the weekend to try it again.
