Cannon speed n temp

I bought a Cannon speed n temp used. It reads fine down to 80'. Any deeper than that, the screen goes blank. The box said it came with a coated cable. Do I need to get a coated cable to get it to work over 80'?

coated cable is a must. even with the caoted cable you may lose signal occasionally and one way to get it back is to wrap a wet towel around the antenna.

Mine blanks out about 135-140 down with the c/cable.

Were not usually fishing that far down anyway.

The wrapping a wet rag/towel around the antenna really does help conduct the signal better. Just take some water and pour it on every once in a while to keep it wet.
