I have a 2001 Penn Yan C-Stalker with a 378 Mercruiser(small block) inboard. The engine develops a "squeak" after warming up. It's in the pulley/belt area and wondering what I can do without spraying grease on everything. Thanks for any help or advice. Steve.........

Might want to have the belt itself checked out  for adjustment or wear. Automotive places have some spray specifically for belts. May also be water pump bearing/fan starting to go??

Thanx, SK8man! Will have it looked at, after I inspect the items you mentioned. Steve..........

Could be an alternator on its way out.

sounds sort of like my situation. My squeeks when I have the RPM's up upon start, but once back down to normal idle it goes away?

Had the same thing happening this weekend, been squealing at start up for awhile now actually. Belt seemed a little loose so changed it out because it looked a little glazed also and installed the new one with proper tension, problem solved

Loose belt on the alternator during startup for my penn yan 255 intruder and 5.0L engine. Readjustment multiple times. Needs to be tite, but within spec. Make sure alternator arm is not rusty allowing it to slip.

New V belts stretch when installed and need to be tightened again.
