Boat problem

I'm having a problem with my boat. It seems like a clutch slipping when under a load. Motor revs and boat hesitates. Anyone have an idea what the problem is?

Spun hub in the prop?

Check the prop to see if the rubber inside the hub is slipping/torn away from the metal part. 

    An i/o, could be the engine copuler on the fly wheel.

Hope it's an outboard and all it is, is a spun prop.  If it's an I/O, I hope it's only a spun prop.  I had the rubber I/O spline go once.  That was a project.  Good luck & let us know.

It is a I/O 305.

Put a different prop on and see if it still does it. I had one that would spin for a second and then catch when I powered up. It usually only happened after the boat had sat on the trailer for a while and the hub was dry. I changed it and the problem went away. I'm told that they can fix them if they have not been damaged much.
