Legacy Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 im going to assume that the majority of us would prefer to spend our time targeting and catching kings. (and ill apologize to anyone who doesnt). but my question is........
daker1979 Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Lakers....0 as it should be..... apparently Gambler hasn't seen the survey yet
UpGrady Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Actually, I would rather target bows first, then kings... nothing better than a slider bite with a 10+lb bow exploding 5 feet out of the water in your prop wash!
Erbyjoe Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Like what has been said a steelie that has launched out of the water is just awsome in my books
Yankee Troller Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Got to go with a chromer! hard hittin and fun fightin! Browns are weak, and Lakers are a joke!
TOP SECRET Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I think the above posters have all just caught too many kings... well except YT, we all know that's not the case with him (j/k ) But seriously... nothing fights like a king, maybe pound for pound, but 25lb king vs the usual 5lb steelie... I'll take the king first, then after I've caught one or two of them, yeah I love a good steelie... like this one... But I'd prefer a rack like this any day... Nick
GAMBLER Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I actually would rather fish Steelhead. When it is derby time, Kings in the morning and then drag bottom to get some gas money back.

Last time I help you out up west! I also know where your boat is docked Spring and Summer You may find a present in it some day! Oh by the way click on this and scroll down. No Lakers or Browns for this team! http://www.crazyyankeesportfishing.com/your_captain.htm
daker1979 Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 OK, who else besides Brian picked lakers Lakers 4% [ 2 ]
muskybob Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 OK, who else besides Brian picked lakers Lakers 4% [ 2 ] Tom
Yankee Troller Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 OK, who else besides Brian picked lakers Lakers 4% [ 2 ] Could be that JAX character too!
motoman Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 steelhead all day and a 20+ pounder would be a bonus ! kings are what we have been targeting most !
Fishstix Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Ill take bows over Kings. Gamblers right about the propwash bite. It usually only happens a few times a year. 10 plus lb brns will give you a pretty good scrap also.
chinook Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I voted for bows myself. But another trophy fish not listed is the Atlantic. I realize that they are not nearly as plentiful however. Also, if it is any consolation to Nick, the best Atlantic I ever caught was returned to me in a condition that I too was dissatisfied with. The taxidermist did a phenomenal job on the king I had done, but the Atlantic was a different story.
Mick Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Atlantics are awesome looking fish, and do jump out of the water just like steelhead when hooked. The X's and T's would make a great looking fish mount or Reproduction. I voted Steelies, but any fish in the boat are better than none, (even lakers) I usually release most anyway if they will make it. Way back when, Atlantics were the only Salmon in Lake O.- Mick
Legacy Posted February 21, 2008 Author Posted February 21, 2008 well im with the majority on this one. in my eyes the best days of fishing are catching kings off the dipseys and deep riggers, and catching bows off the high riggers and short cores. another vote for the bows
reel drag Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 kings, browns and then bows. Joe REEL DRAG
Tacklebox Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I'll go with some of the above posts - steelies are more of a thrill than kings sometimes. I like catching cohos too. The others are more fun on spinning gear or light action trolling setups. And if the action dies late morning in the summer, I'm casting for smallies. Guess I just like catching fish!
