New project boat advise

Hey guys..

Just bought a 20ft Sylvan center console deep v that's going to be the next waterfowl boat.

It has a 90HP Johnson 2 stroke that is seized. Pretty much bought a hull & trailer.

Thinking about looking for a good used 80-100 HP 4 stroke for it. I an thinking of buying a jet drive add on for the motor so I can use her in the shallow areas...

Any body had any experience with these?? Food for thought....

A thought....why not just use an electric trolling motor in the shallows with big motor all the way up in tilt?

Def always an option...have done that with smaller duck boats.

This boat will weigh fair amount... especially with 3-4 hunters. Have read some good about the jet drives & seeing more river boats with them.

Just exploring the option

Jet drives will cut the horse power by 40 percent I have read.  Maybe someone with a jet can confirm this.  Good Luck with her!

Jet drives are much louder too if you are concerned about the noise....

Take into consideration the weight of a 4 stroke to what u currently have. It could affect ride of boat if heavier than boat was designed for.
