Grouse?

Anyone seeing them while out in the woods?  Drumming?  What type of cover are you finding early birds in?  Been hitting all the usual areas and notta!!   Tons of berries, apples, etc. so food is not an issue.  Hope this is not another down year, my dog needs to taste feathers!  Posted here hoping bowhunters may be flushing birds.

I have seen very few as well. Jumped only a couple while setting tree stands and none upland hunting thus far. Also haven't seen any along the back roads. Seem to be plenty of woodcock but no grouse. As you said apples, berries, and grapes are everywhere. It seems as the numbers are down the last several years. Also seems the turkey hatch was down perhaps due to rainy weather we had earlier in the summer. We will be checking out Fort Drum this week and seeing if we find any.

We were up near Barnes Corners this past weekend and were finding the grouse in the alder bottoms next to younger trees.
