Well the other night my 2 uncles came to me and I knew they had something up their sleeves, so they said they are getting up in age and want to go to Canada 1 more time before they can't do it anymore, ok, where do you want to go I asked. They want to go back to lake O'sullivan, I said well you guys know what they put us through before, and you know how I feel about Country after that. They said that was 10 years ago, and now with the pass port thing people are telling them that they lighten up on the fisherman. So I said well I guess I'll go just for your sake. I always set everything up and of course that's what they want again, so I emailed Russell he took over since Ted sold the place years ago, last night Russell called me from Maniwaki Quebec and confirmed our dates and will be sending us the paper work. I guess after 10 years I got softer and actually excited to go, especially after hearing that the lake trout are very under fished and 30#ers are being caught that's on my list to accomplish a big laker. We went to this lake 30 years ago when it was a fly in only lake, and were the first group to drive in, it took 3 hrs. to go 15 miles that's how bad the road was, basically it was a logging path that the log machines used to drag the logs out to the main road, it was an adventure I'll never forget my dad and uncle walked the last 5 miles to guide me over the rocks, and checked out how deep the water holes were, it was cool.   That's my story and I didn't know where to put this thread so I stuck it here!!!

Very good story, We drive thru Maniwaki  on  our way further North to go Moose hunting and walleye fishing, Takes us 21 hours to get to the lake, Then another 5 hour boat trip up thru these lakes and rivers to the cabins. A lot of logging roads, Yeah some of those holes you drive thru you wonder if your coming back. I've seen the boat and trailer floating behind the truck. Last I knew they were checking everybody at the Border, No matter what, so you should have the correct paper work.  Good luck fishing.

I cross into Ontario every spring for my ice out walleye trip . Crossing the border is no big deal as long as you have a valid passport or an enhanced drivers license. If anyone in the party has ever had ANY alcohol related conviction then it becomes a BIG problem.

Last time I was up that way was back in ''73 on our way to Sennetere(sp). Nice area but the fishing was terrible.

Yup, broke a lot of equipment going into lakes north of Grand Remous on log roads. Some real thrilling edge of the seat driving! Great fishing if ya had some ambition to fish remote ponds and lakes. Did a couple trips up to Parent Lake, Senneterre Qc easier to fish and town is close if ya need something. Just don't expect much to be open before 10am in Senneterre, and stores close early too!..LOL lots of partying going on..what else is there to do?..fish?..hunt?

If ya bring worms be sure they are in artificial soil. Not "dirt" from the USA..LOL!

Thanks guys, yea, I learned a lot from that 4hrs detain at the border. We missed our hotel in Maniwaki, like you said they close don't matter if your late or not, lost our $100.00 deposit for the room, and slept in the parking lot of the motel, we where headed for the Gouin Reservoir, it was like 175 miles of dirt road, excellent fishing, so is O'sullivan, huge lakers

HA-HA, Yea Skipper I know where that is. The reason we chose the motel we did was because he also owns a taxi service and we figured we'd hitch a ride up to the REAL motel because they said they are really tough on ya after a few beers, and I can not go to Canada and not drink a few Molson Ice brews at 5% it doesn't take many and your over the limit. When your in such an atmosphere they flow easy and time flies, 3am already?   I guess we thought to hard, and the 4 hrs delay at the border didn't help either :mooning:

A misdemeanor here is a felony in Canada, We found that out last fall, 4 hours later and a buddy of mine got escorted out of the Canadian customs by 3 ar 15 carrying officers, Their words were, come back thru that door and you will be arrested and put in a Canadian jail, Anyway the assault charge he had was dropped but couldn't prove it to them, They wanted someone to fax them the paper work stating it had been dropped, This is 1am in the morning. See ya, Your outta here.  Yeah, I've been to the Algonquin.
