Went ice fishing with a buddy Friday . He hasn't gotten a new license yet . Tried to buy one and we were told nys site to purchase was down and if checked you would just get an appearance ticket and don't need a license to fish or hunt the next week or so...has anyone else heard this? Is nys that messed up? Lol

I wouldn't rely on that. I'd call dec to double check.

I got the email newsletter from DEC on Friday that the new system is up and running on that Friday. He should probably try to buy one again.

Yeah he will when he finally goes again. He is a doctor with two little kids so he doesn't get time to go with me too much lol.

My girlfriend had the same problem but we ended up getting it at ducks Friday night it printed out very small but the I'd number is there so its legal

My son had the same problem on Thursday. I called the DEC 877-457-5680 and the gentleman told me all you have to do is call that same number and they will issue it over the phone by giving you a license number and then they mail out your hard copy. The officer told me that if a officer comes to check you just have to give them the license number and they can check it right there for you. I would guess you can do the same thing on line and just print out the confirmation.
