and was never seen again? Yeah, well, my father in law was using my new used Jiffy 30 on Thursday and all I heard was "oh @#$%" there goes the auger! My fault as the owner, I tightened the nut and bolt when putting the auger onto the power head, but for some stupid reason forgot to put the cotter pin through the bolt. So that being said, if anyone has a used Jiffy auger, I'm in the market! Won't make that mistake again until next time!!!

Yeah Les my brother in law did. We were back looking for it yesterday but his GPS got gremlins. We'll get it in spring time. Back to hand cranking it is!

I wonder if the auger from a hand cranker would work? I have one that I don't use any more, I can get the inner dimension from where it connects tonight and let you know.

I did the same thing with an ice spud....slipped right through my hands. Not as costly for sure.

My brother in law went thru and lost a 3 hp jiffy in about 15 fow. The following summer, I asked a buddy who dives if he'd take a look for it. He was only down about 10 minutes when he came back up with it. The rope was rotted but after a new one, started right up on the 2nd pull. Still use it today!

Had a buddy drop a brand new Samsung Galaxy phone down the hole this year.  Fell out of the front pocket of his jacket, bounced on the ice a few times, and then found its way right down the hole.  Good buy $600 phone!
