Looking for advise about trolling with the duo prop outdrive. I understand they are a little more efficient and was wondering if that would also mean I might not be able to get down as slow for trolling. I'm sure there must be some guys on here using them. Any information would be appreciated. Anything else about them I might want to know? I like the looks of a boat that has one on it but I've never had anything but Mercruiser drives.

Thanks

I have the same unit.  Trolls to fast, went to trolling bags and than 9.9 Honda.  I have a 25 foot sport craft. If your boat is larger it might be OK. Check it on the water.

I have a trophy 286 with VP 290 DP. My boat idles down to 2 mph GPS. With a slight wind I get pushed or slower Depending on direction. I love my duo prop, handles my boat wonderfully. My next step up is twins. For now, its as close as I can get.

I do troll with a Yamaha 95% of the time due to fuel and maintenance savings.

And to answer your question, about Volvo vs: merc. Ford Chevy debate. Merc has a bravo three with a duo prop setup.

The Volvo is bullet proof in my eyes...
