Used to have good luck with the small ones run way back and/or off boards and if out deeper add a large split shot about 3 ft ahead of it.

Any body bait can have it's day with browns! If you think your going to get in tight with some of them you'll be losing some gear.

I have a larger size silv/ grn one I found floating  I put on the downrigger once in a while if it's slow. Got a real nice steelhead & a few kings over the years on it,but  I'll catch one fish on it right away if it works  & then it goes dead. . Crazy searching action on it.

Try running a bobber on the line about 15-25' in front of the hot-n-tots. This will keep them from running too deep when you send them towards shore on a side planer.
