My buddy and i made our first trip of the year to watkins (we usually go 2-4 times each winter).

we were on the water about an hour before sunset, and it was a good thing too because we had numerous motor issues.

fortunately, we were fishing by first light where we thought we should be (near the salt plant). I had 3 on: about a 5 pounder that self-released while jumping, an 18' that got off at the boat, and one 18" in the boat. We fished till 4p with only those 3 hits. We spent most of our time in water deeper than 50', as we had done well like that in past winters.

At the launch, i ran into TROUTMAN 87 - always nice to meet a board member in person. He told us we should have been much shallower. Oh well....at least i got to fish!!! and that little LL tasted about as good as any fish i can remember!

which launch did you use,???  where is the lake level or don't they drop Seneca like they do on Cayuga?

we used the launch at the south end of the lake near the hotel. I don't know the s. end of seneca very well, but it didn't seem very low

Rollie, waters about a foot low roughly. No problems with launches however..
