Myself and three others from the LOU have come up with an idea for a 333 style series similar to the one they run out in Michigan. It will be known as the Cayuga Lake 333 and the following is a description of the format, rules and entry/payout breakdown. If there is enough interest I will get folks signed up and make this happen. Best part is a portion of the money will go to the lift project at Myers.

Cayuga Lake 333 is a tournament series that will be ran in conjunction with the derby's already being held on the lake as an "add-on" or" side bet" competition meant to enhance the size of the field of competitors and offer those interested a second level of competition.

The object of the 333 tournament is to weigh the heaviest 3 fish over the course of a two day derby. In the 333, teams can only enter 3 fish over the course of the two day event. Teams can weigh 3 fish or zero fish on day one however any fish weighed on the first day of the competition cannot exchanged for a heavier fish on day two. Strategy and nerves of steel could have a 10 pound fish not weighed towards a three fish total on day one in hopes of finding that 12 pounder out there on day two. Of course day two's big fish could be a 6 pounder and your stuck weighing it towards the 3 fish total. Risk vs. Reward.....

All NYS DEC rules and regulations apply to the 333. Any violations of these rules will result in that team being DQ'ed for that day. In addition to NYS rules and regs the 333 will also follow the rules and weigh-in schedule of the host event.

The 333 is not an individual event but rather a per boat event. The crew on the boat may change but all weights must be recorded to the same boat and captain throughout the course of the series. Weigh-in's will be done at the host tournaments scale (thanks to Barney for his help) and will be recorded daily. Results will be post here on a "pinned" heading that Chad is helping me with and also on a facebook page we will be starting for the 333 if there's enough interest. After the last event weights will be totaled for the season and a winner declared.

333 dates will be May 17-18 (B&B Spring Derby), June 14-15 (333 only event), July 12-13 (Salvation Army), August 9 (Lighthouse Derby will be day one and the LOU-All date TBD will be day two) and September 20-21 (B&B Fall Derby).

Each team will be able to drop their lowest total out of the five events. Teams will combine four event totals towards their series over-all weight. This will allow a team that may have a scheduling conflict for one of the dates to still compete in the other 4 events and remain competitive.

One time entry of $150 covers all five events.

Pay outs are based on a ten boat field. 1st place-$600....2nd place-$400.....3rd place-$250 and $250 towards the lift project. All entry fee's after the 10th boat will go directly to the lift project. The payout will not increase but the lift project will benefit. If the field ends up 20 boats the project gets $1750, 30 boats the project gets $4750 and so on.

That's our idea, now we are looking to see how much interest there is out there. If there is enough interest I will get printable entry forms on here and start getting boats singed up.

As a vet myself I'd like to thank Rollie for his efforts in getting the Myers lift project off the ground and thanks to all of you that have supported this cause.

Could swing a one day or one weekend event but I'm stuck working all those weekends. Good idea and hope a bunch of guys jump on board! Anyone who gets to fish all of those tourneys should get in on it. Sean

Hope you all have with this. I think its a bad idea the lake is in need of help to get rid of the Lamprey also the lake needs time to rebuild.

Sounds like the interest is there for this series. I will post a rules/sign up sheet on here later today and I hope to have some at the show in Watkins Glen this weekend. Thanks, Mark

Entries are coming in slowly now that we are getting closer. If all of you that showed interest in this series follow up and get in it we will have a good field of boats to fish against. To those that may have a conflicting date, remember, only the four highest two day scores out of the five events will be counted. So every team will have an event they can miss or just not count towards the over all total. Thanks to you all and see you at the water soon, Mark
