Was watching a show about fishing for red fish in la and they were using a huge popping cork with a long leader and a jerk bait at the end it made enough noise with the top water cork to attract the fish then they would hit the jerk bait has anyone ever tried this for musky or am I crazy to think this would work

I have used cork strike indicators (old fly fishing days) in front of jerk baits. helps keep leader

from catching front hook. Maybe fish think a larger bait fish is feeding on smaller bait fish

Popping noise acts as an attractor to whatever is used as bait behind the cork. I use a splasher and fly for fishing for albies at the Cape. Splasher is nothing more than a float which is filled with water to aid in casting the fly far enough to the fish and acts similar to the cork. Old timers would use wooden floats to achieve the same effect. One word for a splasher and fly rig........Deadly.
