How is lake fishing in early April?

Thinking about trailering the boat from PA...is April 12 weekend too early to troll on Ontario? We'd either go out out Olcott or Niagara bar. Or we're considering Lk Erie out of Northeast, Pa. Gotta get the boat out!!!!!!!! We've never gone this early...

There are always browns and lake trout to fish for.  April 12th will be really early this spring for salmon.  Lake Erie still has a ton of ice.  Guys are fishing on 24" of ice off of Sturgeon Point.  Erie will still have ice for sure.

It's going to be late this year, with the cold temps.

Good amount of snow on the Tug Hill, they're going to have snowmen marching in the Memorial Day parade........

Rochester is ice free and the bite is awesome come spring.
