Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Okuma Magda line counter reels?  I am not serious about getting into trolling yet so I dont want to drop a ton of cash on the equipment.  I have not seen many left handed reels for trolling and have seen where I could pick up a set of 4 of the Okumas for ~$150.

Thanks for any input!

I started out with Magdas, used them one season, then bought Convectors the next season. The Magda's were OK, but I wasn't a big fan of the drags. Personally, I'd spend a bit more on the Convectors, I've been very happy with them. Everyone will have their preference and I'm sure you'll have guys saying they love their Diawa's etc., but just my 2 cents.

i have 7 of the left handed 20's (dlx) and 2 of the left handed 30's for leadcore.  i love them, the price is right for someone who doesn't fish for a living.

I use the okuma magdas. have them on our down rigger rods and also on our dipsy rods. I like them. I feel they are a good reel for the money.

They work just fine. I run plenty of them, drags aren't the best but I have yet to loose a fish yet because of them. If one does crap out on you it not a big loss to have to replace. If your a weekend warrior they will do just fine.

For twenty more bucks get the Okuma Convectors a lot better reel for under $100.00.. Drag is much better than the Magda .. The Convector is the Magda on Steroids. .. lol
