Catfish

Hey guys, my dad and i have never caught any catfish and was wondering where a good place would be to go.  We dont have a boat so it would be shore fishing  thanks

All the canal spillways have cats. A lot of people use chicken liver for bait. Raw bacon works too and stays on the hook better.

If you want big cats go to chaumont river,, use fresh shrimp,, don't take your eyes off your poles,, they'll be gone.

Chicken liver is way to go. Take a big glob of it and wrap it with thread for sewing Around hook. Works great.

anywhere in the canal system ive always had better luck with fresh cut bait from creek chubs or suckers

The seneca river has channel cats, a ton of people fish from shore there in the summer

When using chicken liver I tie it up in an egg sac net and then it never falls off

Not that im much of catfish guy, but we always had good luck with good old fashioned nightwalkers in the susquehanna. Wish a had a dollar for every monster walleye i hooked trolling that ended up a big cat! As soon as i see its a cat it feels like going from super bowl to toilet bowl!

Clyde river is one of the best catfishing secrets in ny state. Small water huge channel cats. Can fish anywhere from shore
