I just wanted to let those fly fisherman out there who knew Al Himmel know that sadly Al passed away today at 86. He was a long time member of WNY TU and travelled the world fly fishing (the type of guy who had Joan Wulff's phone number in his address book!). Al was a WWII vet and wrote several fly fishing books about trout fishing in WNY. If you knew Al you know he was an expert fly fisherman and a dry fly snob!

 

I hope wherever he is he has a 20"  Brown on his line caught on a dry fly! Tight lines Al!

Thanks poles293- dad was 89, had just told me we would go to Caledonia to fish Monkey Run at the hatchery. he sure loved fishing, like my obsession with hunting. I am having all 7 of his books bound into an encyclopedia and will donate to WNY T.U. So keep your eyes open. As Al said- tight lines!
