But just not sure what size to get

Any advice?

It think there are 2 in the classifieds that would suit your purpose.

Anything around 10hp 4 stroke would do the job.

Check out Tohatsu - same company that makes the small mercury outboards.  You can pick up a new 9.8 hp four stroke for under $2000

I would go with a 9.9 hp, high thrust 4 stroke with at least a 20" shaft, maybe even a 25" would work better depending on the kicker mount.  I also strongly suggest getting power tilt and electric start, it's a long reach over the transom on a Penn Yan.  This is what I have on a PennYan 255 and it does a good job.

25" for sure. Just put one on a 245 contender. If I would have bought the 20" I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Lol

Also same as Nissan.... Merc , Nissan and Tohastu all the same under 30hp. Bought a 9.8hp Nissan 3 seasons ago and love it.... Elec start is key to keep electronics charged during a 12hr troll....

FleetTracker, how are you going to steer the kicker?

EZ-Steer For now from the main drive. Also wired in the TrollMaster pro 2. EZ-Steer is supposed to be here on Monday. Might invest in a TR-1 next year depending on how this EZ-Steer system works out.
