People ice fishing Chamount this weekend. Gotta be getting close to break up. Really cutting it close for open water by walleye opener.

Is chaumont bay good for walleye?

It is good for walleye if you like to go for throphy fish. We regularly get 12-13 lb fish. But it is a test of patience as you may only catch one on a day. We usually get some of the best action at the back of the bay near the isthmus. Usually 12-15 ft with side planners at 1.8mph. Good action at the mouth of Three Mile Bay too. Got this one being mounted now. Was caught last season at the Pt Salubrious end of Cherry Island.

Really wanted to eat it but don't have a mount yet of a fish from the area. Hope you can get into the bay and catch one that is big enough to mount.
