I have a 55 thrust prowler trolling motor sucks the battery dry in ten minutes anyone no why. I don't think my motor charges unless its in gear. -60 merc

I doubt having it in gear has any effect it would be rpm based.  For it to drain it in 10 minutes seems a little odd.

How big is the battery A/Hr. and how hard are you running the trolling motor (full bore or barely on)?

Sounds like an issue in the motor.  I would be calling to send it back or see what they recommend.

Trolling motors need to be run on deep cycle batteries, not normal starting type marine batteries.  This sounds like your problem to me.  That and the fact that a 60 HP motor uses a stater to recharge your battery, and that is not enough of a charge to handle the full drain of a trolling motor.

What he said^, I automatically assumed it was a deep cycle. That is my fault.
